Good afternoon! To those of you who celebrate, I hope you all had a wonderful Thanksgiving with your families resting and enjoying time together! My husband and I celebrated baby's first Thanksgiving and it was awesome.
IMPORTANT DATE:
FRIDAY, DECEMBER 7th OPEN HOUSE
8:15-8:50am
Come for as little or as long as you can stay! We will be singing a song starting around 8:35am.
Here is some news from this week!
We practiced an ALICE drill today and the students were calm and followed the plan perfectly. We ran outside as a whole school, and on our return into the building, kindergarteners each gave a high five with one of the police officers who was at the drill today.
This week in Open Circle curriculum we talked about being brave and using your "important voice" to speak up. This conversation centered around speaking to a large group, making eye contact and using a loud voice, but we also talked about needing to speak up if someone is bothering you, or if there is unsafe behavior happening. I'm so pleased to say that many students who typically speak more softly were able to easily transition to an important voice!
Thank you to the two parents who came in this week to read stories on your child's birthday! We love having mystery readers, so if you have time and would like to come in, please email me and we can book a date and time!
Speaking of books, Scholastic Book orders went home before the Thanksgiving break. If you would like to order books you can do so online using the class code or you can send in the paper copy and I can make the order for you. I would need orders placed no later than 12/9/2018 for them to arrive before the winter holiday on 12/21/2018. Here is the link to the website and our class code is: P2DRG
Our letters for next week are "y" and "x."
Have a great weekend!
