We had a great time on our field trip this week! Each student got to pick a small bag of apples and pumpkin. We enjoyed our snacks under a tree by the orchards and took advantage of the beautiful day outside. When we got back to school, students compared and contrasted their pumpkins and apples. We made observations and discussed what was similar and different. The students did a great job! Thank you again to our chaperones for making it a fun and successful first field trip!
This week we focused on the letters “c” and “o”. The students have been doing a great job with their handwriting and identifying sounds. We have also been doing letter review of sounds, especially the vowels, because we have started tapping out sounds in words as we write and read. This sound knowledge will be essential to developing strong reading and writing strategies. This has been a helpful skill that students have been able to apply immediately to the activities.
Kindergarteners met with their third grade books buddies this week as well. Each pair or group read stories together and spent more time getting to know one another. There is a lot of excitement when they pass each other in the hallways or see their buddies outside of the classroom. This has been a fun activity for the students in both grades!
Today some high school students from the chorus, band and orchestra came to Claypit Hill to perform for our school. They showcased what they have been working on and introduced students to their instruments. It was a wonderful performance!
